Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Packaging Supervisor to oversee our Packaging Department. This role involves strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise: Oversee activities in the Packaging Department, collaborating with the Packaging Manager, Shift Supervisors, and Lead Hands.
- Backup Support: Act as a backup for Shift Supervisors or Lead Hands as needed.
- Performance Management: Achieve production results by setting job expectations, monitoring performance, coaching employees, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Recruitment & Training: Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, and mentoring of employees.
- Production Planning: Complete the packaging production plan by scheduling and assigning employees, monitoring progress, and resolving issues.
- Communication: Effectively communicate any changes to the schedule.
- Quality Control: Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing packaging production standards.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe and clean work environment by training employees on equipment use and compliance with policies.
- Union Relations: Maintain a positive working relationship with union members and representatives.
- Issue Resolution: Analyze and investigate employee problems, identifying solutions and recommending actions.
- Reporting: Complete and file production reports accurately.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years in a similar role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge: HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety knowledge is an asset.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work any shift, including nights and weekends.
- Comfortable Environment: Must be comfortable working in a hot environment (Bakery floor).

- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of equipment in bakeshop and packaging departments (e.g., flow wrappers, metal detectors).
- Shop Tools: Familiarity with milling machines, lathes, grinders, drilling machines, and welding equipment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to shift schedules as needed to meet departmental demands.
